    St. Croix Triumph Surf Spinning Rods Model: TSRS90M2 (9' 0", M, 2 pc.) paired with Ecooda CZS Freshwater/Sal​twater Fishing Deluxe Spinning Reel, 10/270, Left/Right (great combo and the pole really gets the jigs past the surf line).

    recent Catalina trip

    Went on a full day trip to the front side. We were looking for Yellow tail or maybe some barracuda. Nobody got anything after hours of fishing! I decided to fish on the bottom with some squid strips and landed this just as the boat was about to pull anchor and head back to Long Beach.

    PB Fish Species
    20" Corbina, YFC 14.5", 13" BSP, 14" Spotfin, Sandbass 20" 21.5" Halibut on the surrf.

    Someone thought it looked like a salmon grouper, but I'm not sure.

    OK.. that's what I thought, just wasn't sure. At first I thought it was a Chili Pepper rockfish.
