    Yellowfin Croaker Advice

Okay this is what I have gathered so far. The YFC is a pretty fun fish to catch, yet they are a bottom feeder and do like to each mussels and sandcrabs?

I am going to target this fish and try to catch some of the croaker family.

I do like to use more "active" techniques but I do want to ad this fish to my catch list. So what I am going to do is

    1) High tide late afternoon into evening.
    2) Double Drop looper with weight on bottom.
    3) One hook with a sand crab and one hook with mussel.
    4) Wait.

So if that seems like a fairly decent plan I would appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Ron,

    Try this:

Go to WR two hours before sundown, throw a gold kastmaster as far as you can, then start reeling. Not much more to it.

Also on the hunt for Y/F/C. What does WR stand for? And how did the double dropper loop rig work?

WR is Will Rogers. Can't answer the dropper loop question.

It did okay... the mussels are pretty good bait but a bear to keep on the hook. A 2lb tag line seems to work the best wrapped around the mussel. It also worked with a carolina rig as well. The production was a couple a piece so I can't say that one worked better then the other.

Didn't get to throw Roberts suggestion as I didn't have one in my bag. But he would know better than I what should produce a better quality fish.

Let us know how YOU did!

Went to WR this morning for a few hours caught 15 YFC and lost 5-6 more

Your method is going to produce alot of YFC and SFC . Try some squid the next time . It's like candy to YFC and pretty much every other surf fish . I think they can smell that in the water up to a mile away .

Do you target past the breakers or in the break zone where bsp are found? Just got a kastmaster gold 3/8 oz thought I might go tomorrow and try it out.

I would cast as far as the 3/8 oz. will fly, then work it all the way back to dry sand.
